Deena and I went to the corned beef & cabbage dinner at the Mountain Ranch Town Hall this evening. I was glad I had called to reserve tickets as the dinner was sold out. It was a delicious dinner and Craig and Pat brought a bottle of their wine to share with our table.

After dinner we played bingo. I had not played bingo for at least 40 years. Many variations were called by Jim Bass, kite, six pack, layer cake, four corners, picture frame, goalpost, and blackout.

We had a great time and look forward to more community events.

The Stockton Record reports on the Calaveras County Supervisor candidacies.

Morse, 61, said he is running because he disapproves of Wilensky’s decisions, in particular Wilensky’s support for the hiring of Stephanie Moreno as the county’s community development director and of Moreno’s decision to remove former Building Department Director Ray Waller from his job.

Wilensky is out of the area until Feb. 18 and was unavailable for comment Friday.

Morse said home builders he knows complain that it is now more difficult to get approval for projects.

“I will respond to the people and take care of things where I can,” Morse said.

Morse said he does not expect to spend more than a few thousand dollars on his campaign. On Friday, he was wearing a button recycled from the campaign of San Andreas attorney David Studley, who lost to Wilensky in 2004. “MORSE” was written on masking tape that covered the name “Studley.”
